At WhiskeyRoad Gallery, our mission is to offer a space for artists to share their unique talents with the intrigued observer. Whether a canvas on an easel or a camera on a tripod, WhiskeyRoad Gallery wants to give artists the opportunity to express their interests and teach others of their passions, regardless of technique or medium. Whether holding a bush, clicking a shutter, molding clay, tying a fly, carving a sculpture, poetry, music...come as you are!
A long time coming. My name is Paul Hendrickson. I grew up in Scranton, ND and our family farm was just north of the east end of Whiskey Road running out of Scranton. I spent most of my time growing up on the 'Divide' north of Whiskey Road with my grandparents, in the wide open, uninterrupted prairie views, appreciating the wonder and magnificence of God's canvas and paintbrush.
I loved art as a child. Painting, photography, just about anything. I was blessed to have a teacher in grade school and all through high school that fostered my love for art. Thank you, Mr. Perry Nolan. He taught and inspired me to use my imagination, see the light, appreciate the shadows, use perspective...I hear his voice every time I pick up the brushes or set up my camera.
Recently, I was inspired to pick the brushes up again after many years, 30+, and ''get busy!'. Thank you, Tanis Bula. She is an internationally acclaimed watercolor artist who encouraged me to refresh this love to paint and develop my style. She continues to be an inspiration and you can see why at www.tanisbula.com
On the photography side of things, I owe a lot to my dear friend Brett Patchin of patchinimages.com He started his photography career in Jackson Hole, WY in the 70s and has become one of CO's premier landscape and wildlife photographers. As a partner in WhiskeyRoad Gallery, his work will always be available at the gallery. I have learned so much and always enjoy venturing out into the wilderness to shoot with him. He has traveled all over the world in his pursuit of 'that perfect shot'. In my opinion, he has quite a few. We have some great stories to tell. Come on in and browse around the gallery and I/we will be happy to share them with you!
I will have my collection of paintings and photography as well as works by other local artists and artist acquaintances from around the country. We hope to have a rotating variety of media to offer for your viewing experience.
Over time, it will be a goal to have a variety of artists lead classes and demonstrations of their skills and techniques. With a name like WhiskeyRoad Gallery one can only hope to partake in events featuring special guests, like Burbon and Brushes , Crafts and Canvas, or Wine and Watercolor.
